Betting Market
Both Teams To Score (BTTS) Explained
A yes or no bet on whether both sides find the net. The result and the scoreline are irrelevant.
How this market works
BTTS asks one question: will each team score at least once? A 1-1 draw, a 3-2 thriller and a 4-1 win all settle BTTS Yes. A 3-0 win settles it No, no matter how entertaining the match was.
It is popular because it keeps a bet alive regardless of who wins, and because it is easier to judge than a result. Attacking leagues with leaky defences, teams that push full-backs high, and matches where both sides need a win all point towards Yes.
BTTS in practice
- BTTS Yes at 1.75 — settles as a winner on 1-1, 2-1, 3-2 and any other scoreline where both teams score.
- BTTS No at 2.05 — settles as a winner on 1-0, 0-0, 2-0 and any clean sheet for either side.
Best used for
- High-scoring leagues such as the Bundesliga and Eredivisie
- Matches between two attacking sides
- Punters who want a bet that survives an early upset
Watch out
A strong favourite at home is the classic BTTS No trap. Big sides often keep clean sheets against weak opposition even while the match looks open.
