Betting Market
1X2 Betting Explained
The classic match result market: back the home win (1), the draw (X) or the away win (2) over 90 minutes plus stoppage time.
How this market works
1X2 is the market almost every football bettor starts with. You are picking one of three outcomes at the end of normal time: a home win, a draw, or an away win. Extra time and penalties in cup ties do not count unless the market explicitly says otherwise.
Its strength is simplicity. Its weakness is that the draw takes roughly a quarter of football matches out of play before you start, which is why a 1X2 bet on an evenly matched fixture is harder than it looks. If you are confident about one team but nervous about a stalemate, double chance or draw no bet will often serve you better.
How 1X2 odds work
- Home win at 2.10 — a $10 bet returns $21.00 if the home side wins.
- Draw at 3.40 — a $10 bet returns $34.00 if the match is level at full time.
- Away win at 3.60 — a $10 bet returns $36.00 if the away side wins.
- Only one of the three can win. Anything else loses the stake.
Best used for
- Matches where you have a clear view on the winner
- Building simple accumulators
- Backing a home favourite at a fair price
Watch out
The draw is the most underestimated outcome in football. In tight, defensive leagues it can be the most likely single result on the board.
